Research Engine
Research that fans out into five angles, not one search
Research Engine grounds a topic from five directions at once — overview, latest developments, data and statistics, and the counter-arguments — with an honest record of what it could not verify.
This screenshot is one section of a much longer report
What you're looking at above is a real, relevant slice of the dashboard — not the whole result. Every run also produces a full written report, with every section, source and citation included, which you can export as a PDF at any time from your History. See a real example of that full PDF report →
This app runs on its own and already gives a decent, cited answer by itself. But it's also one of 22 single apps in the suite — chain several of them together from across different groups in a Workflow, and each step hands its findings to the next, producing a deeper result and more data than any one app alone.
Why it works this way
Five grounded angles, one topic
One topic becomes five separate grounded searches — overview and key facts, the latest developments, data and statistics, and the risks and opposing views — merged into a single, deduplicated evidence base.
Built for your actual decision
Declare what decision this research needs to inform and a sixth angle grounds evidence specifically for that call — the difference between research and trivia.
Three lenses on one run
The same grounded evidence read from an Executive, an Analyst, and a Newcomer perspective — plus an explicit list of open questions the research couldn't settle.
Every key finding carries its own evidence and significance — and the open questions array is a genuine admission of what's still unresolved, not a hidden gap.
How it works
Shape it around your decision
Research without a goal is just trivia. Naming a Decision Pending adds a fifth research angle aimed squarely at that decision, and the final recommendations answer it directly instead of summarising the topic in the abstract.
Chain it into something bigger
Research Engine opens both Market Entry (Research → PESTEL → SWOT) and Crisis Response (Research → SWOT → Content) — the first grounding pass that everything downstream builds on.
What to put in the boxes
- TopicRequired
- What you want researched. Be as specific as the question actually is — "should we adopt X" researches differently than "X".
- ContextOptional
- Anything relevant about your situation that should shape the research — constraints, prior knowledge, what you already know.
- DepthRequired
- Overview / Deep dive — how many angles get researched and how far each one goes.
- Decision PendingOptional — under "Sharpen"
- The actual decision this research needs to inform, e.g. "should we adopt X?". Turns the recommendations from general advice into a direct answer to your question.
Good to know
- Nothing here is final — you can correct assumptions, resolve ambiguities, and re-run a refined pass.
- Every finding cites its evidence — expand any item to see exactly where it came from.
- What couldn't be verified is declared honestly as a gap, not silently dropped or guessed at.
Built-in tutorial
Every app opens with a real, built-in tutorial covering how it works, use cases and tips for getting a sharper result — shown automatically the first time, and updated periodically by the Opis team as the tool evolves. Dismiss it per app, or turn tutorials off entirely in Settings.
Delivery integrations
Export any result as PDF, Word, HTML, Markdown, or plain text, and send it directly via Email, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Zapier, Make, n8n.
Once a report is generated, translate it into any of 64 languages with high-accuracy transcreation — not literal machine translation.
The system first reads authoritative publications in the target language for this industry to calibrate tone and terminology, then renders the report to that standard. Both the original and the converted version persist — toggle or export either one, and change the target language any time.
Pricing
Included in the App Hub plan — App Hub £19.99/month unlocks this app and every other app in the suite at this tier, plus a bring-your-own-API-key option. Not a separate charge per app. No free tier.
